Gender-Specific Offender Rehabilitation for Women and Alcohol and Drug Treatment
Families Free offers gender specific treatment for females with alcohol and drug addiction. We utilize trauma-informed care to address substance
use within the following services –
• Intensive Outpatient and Outpatient treatment groups
• Nurturing Parenting, individual counseling and case management
• Recovery skill groups with incarcerated women in four local jails
Reentry Life Skills Classes:
Designed for incarcerated women, these classes are structured to reduce recidivism by teaching skills needed to successful community reintegration and family reunification. Topics are addressed to help our participants in reframing their priorities and perspectives on life, to address co-occurring disorders, parenting skills, personal finances, and job readiness. Inmates begin to believe change is possible, take the first steps in addressing their core issues, learn the concepts of criminal and addictive thinking, and begin to plan the concrete supports necessary for their success post-release!
Families Free offers intensive outpatient services for adult women with a history of illegal substances, alcohol abuse, and prescription drug abuse. The program length is determined by completion of therapeutic goals and generally takes 6-8 weeks to complete. IOP meets for 3 hours a day, 3 times a week.
Families Free’s participants have consistently shown lower scores on the Texas Christian University’s Criminal Thinking Scales when comparing pre-tests to post-tests. This test assesses the following areas: Entitlement, Justification, Personal Irresponsibility, Power Orientation, Cold Heartedness, and Criminal Rationalization.
A huge thank-you to the Sullivan County, Washington County, and Johnson City City Jail for their continued support of Families Free programs in their facilities.
