Volunteers

Families Free seeks to build a network of support that will embrace and assist former offenders and families affected by incarceration in our community. We envision this network to contain individuals (mentors, friends), churches, resources, and employment opportunities - the things that keep the average person going on a day-to-day basis. We hope that you will become involved in the right capacity, be it providing services, being a friend/mentor, or being a financial supporter!

Here are a few of our current volunteer needs:

• Women Volunteer Mentors Needed!

Families Free would like to train women volunteers who would be willing to mentor a lady in our Community Return program.  We will provide training and constant support for all volunteers willing to invest time in supporting and mentoring these women.  The women all express a strong desire for mentors.  This is a sure-fire way to get a great return on your investment of time!

• Skilled Volunteerism

Families Free is working to provide a holistic health check for every woman involved in Community Return after they leave prison. We are looking for qualified professionals who would be willing to provide these services to these women who have little to no income as they leave prison. Families Free believes a holistic health check would enable these women to be more successful as they re-enter the community. This health check would include the following:

• Full health physical
• Dental cleaning
• Female health exam
• Resource linkage for health-related needs
• Participation in drug rehabilitation programming
• Emotional health support: hair care (professional shampoo, cut, and style), basic manicure and pedicure, access to professional clothing, mentoring services
• Nutritional counseling
• Physical fitness counseling
